Ferries run at 30 or 60 minute intervals depending on date and time; crossing is about 45 minutes from driving on to driving off; drive to the Lodge from the ferry about 20 minutes. It is advisable to book a ferry for your departure and return times. You can change the booking by phone (08705 827744), quoting booking reference, until 2 hours before your booked crossing. You’re asked to arrive 30 minutes before crossing; in any case you’ll need a few minutes to collect tickets. If you arrive early they'll usually put you on an earlier ferry unless it's an exceptionally busy time.

Directions to ferry terminal: approaching Portsmouth: Take M275, signposted IOW Ferries. Then follow signs for IOW Car Ferry around many roundabouts. Eventually reach terminal (route separates at some point from IOW passenger ferries).

To Rookley Farm Lodge from Fishbourne ferry terminal Leave the terminal turning right. At traffic lights at T junction turn right for Newport. Go through Wootton. At top of hill turn left at lights in front of Cedars pub, for Sandown. After 0.7 mile turn left at roundabout for Sandown. After 2 miles straight on at roundabout, for Sandown. After 0.5 mile turn right at T junction for Newport. After 0.5 mile follow road around 90 degree right hand bend, then take turning on left signed – Merstone, Rookley. (DO NOT take the first turning which is on the bend itself.) After 1.7 miles (passing through Merstone) turn left at T junction (for Godshill) then immediately sharp right up Chequers Inn Road (signposted Chale). Follow lane for 0.5 mile (including 90 degree bend to right) to T junction beside Chequers Inn. Turn right, then immediately left down track by Chequers Inn sign. The Lodge is half a mile down this track. Stop at the row of cottages which you come to after 300 yards, to collect keys from Pam Wickham. Continue to the end of the track where you will first see Rookley Farm House. Follow the drive round to the left for the Lodge and find parking at the end of the drive.
